Epworth Freemasons is a private hospital run by Epworth HealthCare, Victoria's largest not-for-profit private hospital group.
Three maternity locations
Epworth Freemasons Maternity cares for families at Victoria Parade, Albert Street (main entrance at 109 Albert Street) and Park Hyatt Melbourne, where eligible mums can spend part of their postnatal stay. Check with the family where mum is before you order.
Maternity visiting hours
Maternity visiting hours are 10 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm daily, with a patient rest period from 1 pm to 3 pm. Epworth asks visitors to keep visits short and to stay away if they're unwell.
Parking
Undercover parking sits beneath the medical centre on Victoria Parade. The first 30 minutes are free, then it's $13 for up to an hour and $17 for up to two, with a weekend all-day rate of $14. For Albert Street, the car park is reached via Gotch Lane off Grey Street. Metered street parking is limited.
Public transport
Trams 109 and 12 stop right outside at Stop 15, Victoria Parade. Jolimont station is about a 15-minute walk to Victoria Parade and five minutes to Albert Street, and Parliament station is a 15-minute walk through the Fitzroy Gardens.
Special Care Nursery
Epworth Freemasons has a Special Care Nursery alongside its birth suites. Parents can be with their baby 24 hours a day, while other visitors are welcome from 11 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 7 pm. Children under 14 can't visit the nursery.
Length of stay
The standard maternity stay is four nights after the birth. Self-funded packages are three nights after a vaginal birth and four after a caesarean. If you're unsure where mum will be, contact us and we can redirect — just call before your gift leaves our warehouse.
Getting the gift to mum
Always include the new mum's full name, the location she's at and, if the family has shared it, her room number. If you're sending flowers separately, note that Epworth doesn't allow lilies in any of its hospitals.
